Spark relies on Facilitators, individuals from the countries in which we work with a strong interest in community organizing. Facilitators make the initial contact with the communities that we work with, assist with the development of proposals, and manage funds that are used to purchase materials for each MicroGrant. Kamanzi Moses Rwanda Moses is a graduating senior from the National University of Rwanda where he studied Animal production and Agriculture. He completed a thesis reviewing the national government of Rwanda's cow project that provides cows to the poorest in the country. He was the president of the Unity and Reconciliation Club at University and worked with women cooperatives to help equip them with knowledge and resources to develop. He is passionate about rural community development and has been facilitating a MicroGrant for a group of women in the southern Huye District around alleviating poverty. Fred Rwagasana Rwanda Fred has been helping Spark ever since we started working in Rwanda. He is a passionate social entrepreneur with enthusiasm and seriousness that engages communities. He is the human resources manager at RAMA, one of the biggest health insurance companies in Rwanda. He has previously worked with World Links, to improve education and employment opportunities for youth in the country. Fred also has an agriculture and animal project in East Rwanda. He has facilitated a MicroGrant in Bugesera around access to clean water and has provided logistical and strategic planning assistance to the organization. Rwanda Ernest is currently a journalism student at University in Rwanda. He has worked with the cultural tourism center in northern Rwanda where his parents also reside. He has assisted NGOs in the past to support projects in his region and he is now helping Spark facilitate a MicroGrant in Musanze, Rwanda. Uganda Kaaka is the National Coordinator of BESO, a Ugandan NGO
providing education support to under-privileged youth. He has helped plan and
facilitate three MicroGrants organized in Uganda. He is in tune with special
needs of women and rural communities and has provided critical thinking on the
MicroGrants model of how to engage these groups more. Kaaka is also a teacher
and artist. His creativity is beneficial to BESO and Spark MicroGrants. |
